Rikor Textiles was founded in 2015 by 2 enthousiasts with a profound experience in the world of soft floor coverings. With Sam Gong living in Rizhao, China and Hans P Nollet living in Kortrijk, Belgium the name RiKor (Rizhao – Kortrijk) was created to emphasize the global view of the company.
The first activity was to develop and trade artificial grass for the North American market. Within a year, we discovered that without own production, it would never be possible to deliver the excellent service to our customers that we promised. So for the second season, the first tufting machine was purchased.
Inspired by the street vendors who sell ice cream and umbrellas we looked then for a product to cover the quiet season. We chose for outdoor mats and purchased our first PVC coating line.
As we also realized that a good quality finished product starts with good quality raw materials, Rikor Textiles started to produce in-house grass yarn and polyester staple fiber, for own consumption but the extra output was sold on the market.
Both product families have since then grown side by side, each on their own location in China. By 2019, the existing facilities were at and beyond their limits so the next step was taken: combine the grass and mat production on one new location. Since then, Rikor Textiles is producing and selling both raw materials and finished products globally, covering indoor and outdoor rugs & mats and artificial grass both for contract and retail use.
Rikor Textiles wants to be a pioneer in environmentally-friendliness. Since the beginning, all polyester has been 100% recycled. Since 2019, our facilities are also 100% pvc-free. The holy grail in soft flooring production has always been to be able to offer products without oil-based raw materials. For this purpose, a spin-off was created in 2023: Coral-X. We have set up a multy-disciplinary R&D team to develop a polypropylene chip made from post-cosumer waste material but with the same characteristics as virgin material. Since 2024, the Coral-X PP chips are being used internally and sold to selected partners worldwide.
